$$ Vietnamese restaurant

Address: 7000 Bathurst St unit c3, Thornhill, ON L4J 7L2

Green tiled hallway at Vietnoms
Situated at the bustling crossroads of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West, Vietnoms Thornhill welcomes guests with its inviting atmosphere and tantalizing Vietnamese flavours. Led by the talented mother-and-son team of Thanh Duong and Tony Hoang, this charming eatery radiates hospitality and character. Upon entering the dining room, patrons are greeted by a flood of natural light that illuminates the cozy dining space adorned with walls painted in soothing forest green and vibrant red hues. Despite its modest size, the intimate setting accommodates up to 20 guests, ensuring a personalized and memorable dining experience.

The restaurant's exterior presents a modest facade with expansive front windows offering a glimpse into a fully tiled room bathed in a soft pale yellow hue. A secondary set of windows and a door partition the space, potentially serving to distinguish between courier pick-up and dining areas. Stepping through the door reveals a narrow hallway adorned with forest green tiles, establishing a serene ambiance. On the other side, the intimate dining room awaits, where we were ushered to a table positioned against the wall. Seated with a clear view of the entire room, I observed the subtle contrast between the table's darker green hue and that of the the hallway's walls. Our menus, presented on a light brown clipboard, with 3 sheets that was comparable to that of the dining area's colour scheme, creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout the space.

We began by exploring their diverse beverage menu, which featured a fusion of Vietnamese staples and innovative concoctions that piqued my interest. Opting for something unique, I chose their Iced Matcha Lemonade. As a devoted matcha enthusiast, I was intrigued by the idea of pairing it with lemonade, though I harboured reservations about its potential sweetness. To my delight, the first sip unveiled a harmonious blend of tangy lemon zest, earthy matcha notes, and a subtle hint of sweetness, creating a refreshing and balanced beverage. It served as the perfect pick-me-up after a long day at work, setting the tone for a relaxing Friday evening.

Vibrant vermicelli and grilled chicken and beed

At the restaurant, guests have the option to choose from two distinct menus. The first is their standard menu, featuring items that are also available for takeout or delivery. The second menu offers exclusive off-menu selections, accessible only to diners. One particularly intriguing dish that caught our attention was their Charred Beef Rib Pho. This specialty consists of lightly charred beef served with a piping hot broth poured from a silver teapot directly onto the meat. The broth delicately cooks the beef to just shy of medium rare, resulting in a succulent texture that practically melts in your mouth.

I have a penchant for vermicelli, so I opted for their Bún Gà Nướng, Grilled Chicken with Vermicelli. The dish arrived in a generous silver bowl adorned with colourful carrots and lettuce atop a bed of white vermicelli noodles. The perfectly grilled chicken, generously sprinkled with peanuts, added a delightful crunch. Accompanied by a small bowl of fish sauce, I found myself requesting an extra serving, graciously provided at no extra charge. Mixing the fresh vegetables and grilled chicken, I savoured each bite, feeling thoroughly satisfied yet surprisingly energized, devoid of any post-meal lethargy.

My experience at Vietnoms was nothing short of delightful. From the cozy ambiance to the delectable cuisine, every aspect of the dining experience exceeded my expectations. The passion for authentic flavours and attention to detail were evident in each dish, leaving me thoroughly impressed and eager to return. Vietnoms is undoubtedly a gem in Thornhill's culinary scene, and I look forward to many more enjoyable meals at this establishment in the future.
