**** Hotel
Location
Located on 21 E Bellevue Pl in the Heart of Chicago's famous Magnificent Mile sits the Thompson Hotel, part of the World of Hyatt. The Magnificent Mile is Chicago's premier commercial district, similar to Rome's Via del Corso, Toronto's Yorkville, or Edinburghs Royal Mile. My day job had brought me to sort of support and find any areas of opportunity within one of the retailers within the golden mile, a short 2 minute walk from the Hotel. The area diving deeper is more specifically known as Gold Coast, a rich historical area that is beautifully well kept, with a small park (Mariano Park) with tables, chairs and Whispers Coffee and Tea, a small cafe and ice cream stop. The corner is filled with wide sidewalks, restaurants with terraces, like those that you see in Europe, designer brands, Hotels, and Lou Malnati's Pizzeria.
Hotel Amenities
From the Thompson Hotel, you will have a view of Gold Coast and Lake Michigan. It's location brings you a few steps from the Magnificent mile and Chicago's famous Lake Front Trail. The hotel sports 247 luxury rooms and suites, each with 400-thread count Sferra linens, rainfall showers, mid century modern furniture, creating a comfortably elevated space. The hotel also has a Fitness Centre, Meeting Facilities, Business Centre, Free Internet Access and is Pet Friendly. The Hotel also offers a Grab and Go station in the lobby, in room dining and have a Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants opening soon.
My Room
I was surprised when I stepped into the room for the first time by how large it was. This was my first time in Chicago and this hotel was to be my home for the next seven days, and I couldn't be happier to see a beautiful desk area facing Chicago's beautiful skyline, a large seating area (that I would use to watch Downton Abbey and order in Portillo's Hot Dogs - not a huge fan). There was a kingsize bed in the centre of the room - and yes I did sleep on only one side of the bed. The washroom was immaculate, the rainfall shower luxurious, and the whole space itself felt like a spa. The elevator's were fast, and I had no issues or had to wait in a long queue to when making my way up to the 21st floor. I would go to sleep each night to the beautiful very of the city lights and wake early to view the sunrise.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Thompson Hotel, the Hyatt Group really did create a space that feels both restful and luxurious, steps from Chicago's vibrant Gold Coast. I look forward to staying there again. A stay at the Thompson Hotel is a treat in itself, with spectacular views, room service that is on time and its amazing amenities. Would love to hear about your accommodation recommendations down in the comments or feel free to send me an email, and I would love to check them out as well.
