Micro Sillon, a charming Wine Bar nestled in a leafy corner of Lyon, France, specializing in natural wines, or "vin biologique." Discovered during an unforgettable walking tour, this hidden gem offers an intimate experience in the heart of Lyon.
Our Lyon Music & Wine tasting tour was a delightful blend of culture and leisure. Limited to three participants that day, our small group explored Lyon's architecture, culture, and wine, focusing on the Croix-Rousse neighborhood. Starting at the Lyon Opera house, our knowledgeable guide shared insights into Lyon's history, accompanied by music playlists and stories about the Opera National di Lyon.
The highlight was a wine tasting in a cellar and the walk to a panoramic view of the city. If you want to take the same tour I did or learn about it, check it out here.
Comfortable shoes are recommended for this well-paced tour, which includes walks through cobblestone streets, secret passages, and tall staircases, typical of French cities. A restful stop at a wine bar provides the perfect break before ascending to enjoy a spectacular city view and descending through various stairways adorned with music and street art references.
Micro Sillon Wine Bar Exploration
After traversing Lyon's streets and learning about its vibrant art scene, we stumbled upon Micro Sillon. This hidden corner emanated warmth and charm. Locals enjoyed wine and small plates at outdoor tables, creating a lively atmosphere. Stepping inside, we were greeted by a forest green entrance with the words 'Micro Sillon Cave à manger Epicerie.'
Inside, the ambiance was inviting, with hanging lights casting a soft golden glow. Cured meats adorned the counter, and the knowledgeable staff guided us through the wine bar. Descending into the cave, we discovered an intimate space, despite its narrow size, exuding a spacious feel.
Introduced to Vin Biologique, an organic wine crafted through sustainable farming practices, we let our preferences guide our choices. A vin minéral was suggested, offering a unique mineral flavor profile. Our selection, Mon P'tit Pithon, a white wine from Cotes Catalanes, delighted with flavors of pear, stone fruit, honey, verbena, and wet stone. Paired with a plate of cheese, the experience was exquisite.
Sharing the bottles and conversation with fellow tour members created a liberating atmosphere. After savoring the wines and settling the bill, our journey continued. Climbing steep staircases, we reached a scenic viewpoint, capturing Lyon's beauty with its terracotta roofs and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière overlooking the city.
Overall, our evening with Micro Sillon and the Lyon Music & Wine tasting tour was a harmonious blend of cultural exploration, delightful wines, and newfound friendships – an enchanting Lyon experience.
