If you're looking for a picturesque and charming destination in Italy, then Positano and its Fornillo Beach should definitely be on your list. Situated on the Amalfi Coast, Positano is a stunning town known for its colourful houses, winding streets, and panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
One of the highlights of Positano is Fornillo Beach, a beautiful and less crowded alternative to the more popular Spiaggia Grande. The beach is nestled in a secluded cove and offers crystal-clear waters, golden sand, and a serene atmosphere.
To reach Fornillo Beach, you can take a leisurely stroll along the scenic path from Positano's main beach, or take a water taxi for a more unique and adventurous experience. The beach is surrounded by rugged cliffs and green hills, providing a breathtaking backdrop to your day in the sun.

When you arrive at Fornillo Beach, you'll find a small, peaceful cove that's perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. There are a few beach clubs and restaurants that offer sun loungers, umbrellas, and delicious Italian cuisine, so you can spend the whole day there without worrying about a thing.

If you're feeling more active, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the coast from a different perspective. Or, you can take a walk along the beach and discover the hidden caves and rock formations that dot the shoreline.
After a day at Fornillo Beach, you can head back to Positano and explore the town's many boutiques, art galleries, and cafes. You can also climb up to the top of the hill to see the stunning views of the town and the sea.
Positano and Fornillo Beach are truly a magical destination that shouldn't be missed. With its stunning scenery, charming atmosphere, and relaxed pace of life, it's the perfect place to unwind and experience the best that Italy has to offer.
We stayed at Hotel Vittoria, a 3 star hotel on via Fornillo. This hotel works very closely with Hotel Pupetto, and so guests of Hotel Vittoria get a discount on the beach chairs at the Pupetto Beach Club. We paid 15 euros per chair per day, which is definitely a bargain compared to the cost of beach chairs on Positano's main beach. It is a steep walk down to the beach from the hotel, down many steps, but after a few times of going up and down the cliff, it does become easier.
I will do a separate post on the other experiences that Positano has to offer as well as where I stayed and ate! I do highly recommend if you do plan on visiting Positano that you visit Fornillo beach as it allows you to have a more serene and more intimate time than its main beach due to crowds.
