Nestled in the historic theater district of Edgar Quinet, Café Bohème beckons with the allure of a bygone era, capturing the spirit of Montmartre in the 1920s. This establishment is a timeless escape in Montparnasse, where the enchantment of yesteryear blends perfectly with contemporary culinary delights, creating a haven for those seeking a taste of both nostalgia and world-inspired flavours.

Atmosphere

Café Bohème unfolds like a whimsical tale along Boulevard Edgar Quinet, standing as a bohemian oasis amidst Haussmann grandeur. Its colourful terrace and inviting interior exude a unique charm. The ambiance weaves a narrative of artistic fervour, drawing inspiration from the surroundings and channeling it into a warm and welcoming space.

The interior décor is adorned with small round-top tables and wooden rattan chairs, similar to those you see at most Parisian bistros. What sets Café Bohème apart is the eclectic array of flowers, pampas grass, and charming knit chandeliers of varying colours and shapes that grace the dining room and terrace. It's a visual symphony that elevates the dining experience, infusing every corner with an artistic flair.

Our Experience

Our journey at Café Bohème commenced early on a Thursday morning. We were in search of a larger breakfast than our usual coffee and croissant since we hand a long day at Versailles planned. We were presented with their breakfast menu, which had a variety of dishes and drinks to choose from. While we perused the menu, we were given a small basket of bread.

'Le Bun de Matin,'

I was decided to order their breakfast sandwich priced at 14 Euros, a delightfully soft bun housed a perfectly cooked over easy egg, cheddar, avocado, tomato, and bacon. The ingredients themselves aren't too different compared to your ordinary breakfast sandwich - however the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of their chef made it stand out and I felt ready for the journey ahead. Accompanying this delightful breakfast bun was a Cappuccino for 5 Euros.

My companions ordered the Acaï Bowl for 13 Euros, a vibrant bowl featuring house-made granola, banana, and kiwi. An Omelette with ham and cheese (12 Euros) was also ordered and showcased the culinary finesse of Café Bohème with a golden outside and creamy interior. To complement our brunch, they ordered a Matcha Latte and Chaï Latte (6.20 Euros each).

An unexpected yet delightful touch was the serving of arugula and tomatoes with a light vinaigrette alongside our egg dishes. This nuanced addition, rare in North American breakfasts', acted as a refreshing palate cleanser, leaving us invigorated and ready for the day ahead.

The Price of our Meal:

While the bill tallied to 56.40 Euros for three, translating to approximately $82 Canadian, Café Bohème does lean towards the pricier end of the spectrum for brunch. However, the investment proved worthwhile, especially considering the quality of the offerings, the unique ambiance, and the long day that awaited us.

In Conclusion:

Café Bohème is not just a dining spot; it's a journey through time, a celebration of Parisian allure and bohemian spirit. The marriage of classic charm and modern culinary artistry makes it a destination where every bite is infused with history, and every corner resonates with creativity. For those seeking an escape into the soul of Paris, Café Bohème stands as an invitation to savour the flavours of a bygone era, where every dish is a chapter in a tale of enchantment.
